Memorial properties clustering near west Memorial Drive (a former Indian trail) and near 1-10 (the Katy Freeway). The Memorial area is also known as the "Villages" or the "villiages in Houston." This term refers to the incorporated municipalities of Bunker Hill, Hedwig, Hunter's Creek and Piney Point, all located south of 1-10 West, Spring Valley and Hilshire Village, north of the freeway. Spring Branch is located in west/northwest Houston, Texas. Spring Branch is very well known for the school district it shares with some other neighborhoods such as Memorial. Spring Branch Independent school district is one the wealthiest school districts in Houston, largely due to the property tax revenues received from more affluent neighborhoods within the school district.
The Spring Branch community was established fairly early in Houston's history, and it provides a great example of early Houston suburban real estate designs. Several minor bayous run through Spring Branch neighborhoods and we also must mention Spring Lake, a rather large pond near the center of the Spring Branch.
